On Thursday, 3rd November, the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez received the Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS) Honourable Bakary Badjie, together with his delegation from MOYS and the National Youth Council.
The visit is part of the Flag tour MOYS is currently undertaking to Ministries and Institutions, seeking support for the upcoming National Youth Conference Festival (NAYCONF).
NAYCONF is a biennial event managed and coordinated by the National Youth Council under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in The Gambia. The activity aims to bring over 2000 young people together from all over the country and other parts of the world to interact, share experiences and discuss major issues affecting their lives.
Hon. Professor Pierre Gomez was pleased by the visit and assured his Ministry’s full support towards the event's success, and he reminded that the plight of the youth sits positively in MoHERST core mandate of producing a skillful youthful populace.
Furthermore, Hon. Gomez called on the youth to actively participate in the NACONF, while also urging them to participate in the developmental imperatives of the country.
The 13th Edition of NAYCONF will be held from 15th to 23rd December 2022 in Banjul under the theme “The role of young people in the maintenance of peace and security for socio-economic development of the economic; challenges and opportunities”.
