The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) on the 18th of March, 2022, successfully administered the signing of bond forms for students of the new University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) of The Gambia.
All students of year 1 and year 2 have been granted scholarships to study Bachelor’s Degrees in different Engineering courses at the new University. These courses include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Awardees were required to come with two sureties to sign bond forms. This is in agreement for students to serve their country upon completion of their studies.
The new USET is currently receiving mentorship from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, in delivering the core engineering curriculum. Also, De Montfort University (DMU) in the United Kingdom is embedding entrepreneurship training as part of the new University’s curriculum.
During the four years of studies in the various bachelors of science in engineering programs, students of USET will undergo industrial attachment to enhance their practical skills.
According to the Permanent Secretary of MoHERST, this will enable students to put to practice their knowledge learnt in respective areas of studies.
